Our last meeting was our Annual Picnic at the Wason Pond Community Center. For the first time in 3 years, the weather cooperated so that we could be outside near the pond! Thank you to everyone who brought delicious food for us all to share, and thank you to Stephanie Allan for being our hostess for the evening.
We have 25 members and guests in attendance! I am happy to tell you that since June 26, we have 5 new members and families to the Society!
Our guest speaker was our dear friend Richard Holmes,
author of Chester Revisited. With a new book forthcoming about stories and storytelling of Chestnut Country, Mr. Holmes "spun some yarns" for us throughout the evening. Had is not been for the eventual mosquitoes, we could have listened to him all night long! He also presented the society with photographs developed from original glass negatives which depict long lost sites of Chester.
We had a terrific evening, and look forward to a successful remainder of 2007!

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, 7 PM at Stevens Memorial Hall. Please be prepared to discuss changes to by-laws, and criteria for scholarships (what should be on the application and how much per scholarship), and finalize plans for Faire Appraisal.
